ROTARY REMINDER: "Object of Rotary" The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster; FIRST, the developement of acquaintance as an opportunity for service, SECOND, high ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarians occupation as an opportunity to serve society, THIRD, the application of the ideal of service in each Rotarians personal, business and community life, FOURTH, the advancement of international, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service".
Rotary FYI: The "Avenues of Service" were developed int he 1920's to clarify the "Object of Rotary". "Club Service" strengthens fellowship and ensures effective functioning of the club. "Vocational Service" encourages Rotarians to serve others through their vocations and practice high ethical standards. "Community Service" covers the projects and activities of the club to improve community life. " International Service" expands humanitarian reach around the globe and promotes world understanding and peace.
Rotary meeting at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Come and join us, we will have " PattiCakes Famous Apple Turnovers" for our breakfast treat! Business will include signup list to judge or coach for the "Pine Needle Festival" in March, reminder that Rotary Community Grants applications are due next Wednesday and updates on club fundraiser events. A "Festival Planning" committee has met twice and has specific recommendations for the club that will be reviewed and the Golf Tournament get closer and closer. One of our past 'grants' groups, Fresno County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Mountaineering Team will present a program about the unique service they provide to our rural and remote community.
The February Board of Directors meeting will move to March1 to review and award the Community Grants applications.
